Run-time Reconfiguration of Service-Centric Systems

چکیده

Service-centric systems are driven more and more towards self-adaptation in order to satisfy QoS in highly dynamic environments. However, the young age and immaturity of this domain, combined with the increasing size and complexity of these systems, hinder the architects from designing effectively self-adaptive systems. This paper addresses the process of run-time reconfiguration with respect to high level issues such as monitoring, evaluation of QoS, reconfiguring and structuring the service-centric system. All patterns relate their solutions partially to well-established architectural patterns, adapted to the domain of servicecentric systems. The aim is to compose a unified framework in the form of a pattern language that will help architects in taking the major design decisions.

Access control in ultra-large-scale systems using a data-centric middleware

The primary characteristic of an Ultra-Large-Scale (ULS) system is ultra-large size on any related dimension. A ULS system is generally considered as a system-of-systems with heterogeneous nodes and autonomous domains. As the size of a system-of-systems grows, and interoperability demand between sub-systems is increased, achieving more scalable and dynamic access control system becomes an im...

Towards a reconfiguration service for distributed real-time Java

Ancient monolithic distributed systems were attached to well-known development practices and offline analysis. Current scenarios are more dynamic, and open, plenty of applications and services which appear and disappear dynamically at runtime. Likewise, these scenarios require taking into account actions that were traditionally addressed offline, this time in an online scenario. This paper cont...

Service-Oriented Architecture for Command and Control Systems with Dynamic Reconfiguration

Command and Control (C2) systems are evolving as warfighting is changing. Modern warfighting needs a dynamic, adaptable and agile force supported by rapidly changing technology. Three important C2 system characteristics are: survivability, rapid development and evaluation, and interoperability. This paper proposes a Service-Oriented Architecture with Dynamic Reconfiguration (SOADR) for the DoD ...

Reconfiguration of distribution systems to improve reliability and reduce power losses using Imperialist Competitive Algorithm

Distribution systems can be operated in multiple configurations since they are possible combinations of radial and loop feeders. Each configuration leads to its own power losses and reliability level of supplying electric energy to customers. In order to obtain the optimal configuration of power networks, their reconfiguration is formulated as a complex optimization problem with different objec...

ViRe: Virtual Reconfiguration Framework for Embedded Processing in Distributed Image Sensors

Image processing applications introduce new challenges to the design of sensor network systems via non-trivial in-network computation. As embedded processing becomes more complex, in-situ reconfiguration is seen as the key enabling technology to maintain and manage such systems. In dynamic event-driven heterogeneous sensor networks, reconfiguration also encompasses autonomous re-partitioning of...
